DreamWidth?

Show of hands - who among you is considering / would consider a move to Dreamwidth? I gather from lilamp that it's the new cool thing because LJ's servers are in Russia.

Hassle of moving all my back archive aside, I'm curious if anyone I know would actually use it / comment / share / etc.

fyi, i used dreamwidth's import function the other day and it seemed to work! i think the only thing it didn't get was extra userpics.

there are very few people still posting here that i read, and one of them is a crosspost from dreamwidth. (you can have it auto-crosspost to lj.)

i'll keep reading wherever people are that i want to read, but it would be nice if everyone were in the same place as much as possible!

I'm there already, mostly because of the Russia thing, I suppose. I also like what I see of the people who run it; they seem to care for the right reasons.

Recently got afeared of losing my lj and looked into offline downloading as used to be possible with a couple of different Windoze apps, but nothing seems to currently work. Do you know if you can port to Dreamwidth and then download? Cos I'm interested in that. I have a handful of ppl who still post here, and a permanent account thanks to good fortune years ago, so I'm rather loathe to leave altogether tbh... and not like I currently trust the USA any *more* than Russia...

ALSO. They did a lot of work to make the migration from LJ easier, including automatic cross-posting from DW to LJ, as well as letting people log into DW with LJ credentials to read friends-locked posts and stuff. Basically, just with your LJ credentials, you can do everything on DW *except* post your own journal entries.
