Lest the entry subject give you the wrong impression, I'm hardly feeding nightmares. Rather, I'm sitting in a big wicker chair with an old arthritic sharp-clawed cat on my knee. Seattle so far is.. intriguing. A bit hazy, as I'm physically exhausted and sleep deprived.
I took the long route up from Portland, and by long I mean ELEVEN HOURS rather than the standard four. I drove up the west coast of Washington, through Olympic National Park, and around the south side of the Juan De Fuca strait. I was planning on crossing into Seattle on a ferry from Bremerton, but when I arrived at 10:10pm the next scheduled launch was set for 11:40, so I chose instead to drive down to Tacoma and up the I-5.
Thankfully I had my cellphone fully charged and I had my darling (sick of hearing that yet?) boyfriend to chat with as I drove. We spoke a half dozen times throughout the day, including a lovely brief chat from the beach in Olympic National Park.
Upon arrival in Seattle,
glaucon took me to Beth's diner for some yummy eggs, french toast and sausage. Mmmm calories!
I'll go to sleep tonight, well-fed and exhausted, with images of misty towering evergreens and polished beach rocks floating through my dreams.
