I took the day off work. Perhaps slightly poor form to do so only 2 weeks after starting, but fuck it. I am genuinely sick, and I know that taking the day off will increase my chances of getting better rather than worse.
And so, I slept until 11am, I'm going to have some orange juice and toast, and then I'm going to watch a movie. This afternoon I'll probably take a nap, lie on the couch, finish my book, take another nap, and maybe do the dishes.
Glorious.
We gave out about 8 bags of candy last night. We over budgeted a little - we have about 3 1/2 bags left. The fact that it was raining probably decreased the total number of trick or treaters. That, and we missed the first wave of kids because we were inside with the lights on, and apparently the kids won't come to the door unless you're OUTSIDE in our neighbourhood. What the hell?! What happened to the whole ringing the doorbell, waiting for the resident to answer, shouting "trick or treat" thing? Ohwell.
Cutest costume of the night was the first kid who showed up - a boy about 8 or 9 years old, clearly pretty geeky (and by himself, with his Mom walking behind him), wearing a mad scientist/inventor outfit complete with big black glasses with tape in the middle. Embrace your geekiness, for the geeks shall reign supreme! I gave him two pieces of candy :)
Ok, off to make tea.
