I mentioned in an earlier post that I'll be seeing a lot more of [livejournal.com profile] avocado_tom starting in August, and I'm just now getting around to detailing the how/when/why of that.

Morley's summer schedule, for those of you who are curious and who haven't yet asked me at various social events:

June 7 - 20 Road trip in the Pacific Northwest (suggestions? hookups?)
June 20 - July 10 Back in SFO area. Breaks for Stargaze XV (June 22 - 26) and 4th of JuPlaya (June 29 - July 3rd)
July 10 - July 12 Boston with brother and babi (sister-in-law)
July 13 Pick up [livejournal.com profile] avocado_tom in Portland, ME and proceed to a wedding in Providence, a quick hello in Boston, and up to Brunswick, ME to meet the family.
July 16 Beloved boyfriend returns to Pittsburgh
July 17 - July 30 Brunswick, Maine hanging out with my parents, maternal grandfather, paternal grandmother and perhaps uncle/cousin. Oh, and bro & babi too!
July 31 - August 24th-ish Pittsburgh, PA with aforementioned beloved boyfriend, [livejournal.com profile] avocado_tom. Meet his parents (and hopefully sister and grandma!), possibly job hunt, meet the local growing contingent of Freakbase Pittsburgh.
August 24th-ish - September 6 Burning Man (road trip to playa with Tom; drive back to SF afterwards)
September 7 - 21 (roughly) Back in SFO to decompress, then pack up my stuff and say my goodbyes
September 21 - October 1 (roughly) Drive from SFO to PGH
October 1 Commence domestic bliss with [livejournal.com profile] avocado_tom in Pittsburgh! Hoo-rah!

So yes, the long and the short of that is that I'm traveling all summer, and in September/October I am moving out to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to live with my amazing boyfriend, partner in crime, and partner in life, the infamous Mr. Avocado Tom Tarka.

I am thrilled to be joining Tom in Pittsburgh for a variety of reasons - the chance to start really working on our life together, the opportunity to be back on the east coast where there are real seasons and snow and closer family ties, interesting career options in the mining industry.

I'm sad to be leaving San Francisco, of course. More than anything, I'm sad to be leaving behind an amazing group of friends and a few very particular close friends and lovers. My relationship with [livejournal.com profile] headlouse will remain very important to me, and I'm optimistic about it as we segue into a long-distance framework. I'm sad to leave behind Matt and [livejournal.com profile] tankgirlh as well, as they've been amazing friends to me. But I know this is the right decision for me - I need to be in the same place as Tom for our relationship to stand a chance of growing and strengthening in the ways we want.

And so, off I go...

But first, I need to get every last ounce of the travel bug out of my system (for now) - and the summer awaits! Here goes nothin!

The problem with my plan of going on a 2 week road trip is I am sick of travelling. To top it off, I pulled a muscle/tendon in my left knee, making hiking a Very Bad Idea. So I'm limited to driving and short walks, and potentially bike rides.

How to circumvent this?

1) Visit people, who provide entertainment and newness, rather than camping alone in parks (expensive and boring).

2) Shorter road trip. The problem with this is that the most exciting visiting prospects are in Portland and Seattle, which are *faaaaaaaaaaaar*.

3) Don't go. Stay in SF and.. do.. something else.

3) Um, suggestions?

I don't expect anyone to really read this, but it's a nice time-waster while waiting for Jonathan to finish cooking our mashed potatoes and hot cocoa!
