YES! That's the bird! Looking at images, that's exactly what I saw. There were a few of them, actually.
I don't think we ran over the nest, they seemed to only be feisty when we were parked in the nearby road. They sprang to life when I walked down a particular stretch of road - my guess is their nest is nearby in the brush.
However, it's all pretty irrelevant in the long run - construction of the new Westinghouse headquarters will most definitely eliminate their habitat.
