Palakkunnu has been lovely, but I've decided to hit the road again tomorrow to Mangalore and onward to Mysore. From there, I'll wander in Karnataka, briefly in Goa, up into Maharashtra and then up to Gujarat. I've had a great time relaxing here, but I'm anxious to get moving and see more of the south/southwest.

[livejournal.com profile] avocado_tom has gone and done it: he's booked a ticket to Delhi for April! Hoooray. If the political situation in Nepal allows, we'll head into Nepal after a few days in India. Thankfully his arrival/departure conveniently fits inside my visa validity for India. If Nepal is a complete disaster, we can still spend 2 1/2 weeks together in India. In just over *two months* he arrives! Time flies.

I admit I am starting to really wonder about Nepal. Every day there's new crazy riots, arrests of pro-democracy leaders, and stern words from India and the US towards King Gyanendra. The Maoists are setting up road blocks and setting off bombs all over the place, and as the elections draw near things may escalate even further. While the word on the ground from friends-of-friends is "as a tourist, you're mostly fine", it's still worrisome. I'll may soon have to consider the feasibility of returning to Thailand/Laos/Cambodia in May, and/or heading back to the U.S. earlier than planned *snif snif*. This would also throw a monkeywrench into the plans of going trekking in the Himalayas with Matt in May/June. Bleh. Thoughts? Knowledge? Recommendations?
