Yesterday there was a bomb blast at the Varanasi Cannt train station, and fifteen people were killed. I am thankfully far, far away from Varanasi right now, so no worries.

There was also a 5.2 earthquake last night in north Gujarat, felt in Ahmedabad (though not by me - dammit when am I going to feel an earthquake?!). Nobody killed, just a bit of shaking.

A little closer to home, about ten days ago a bomb went off at the Ahmedabad Kalupur train station, where I'm headed in about fifteen minutes. A few people were killed, and many more would have been killed and injured if the train the bomb was designed for had been on time.

I'm leaving Ahmedabad today for Rishikesh, up in Uttaranchal. I'll be passing through the New Delhi train station and I'm a bit nervous. There's not much I can do but keep my eyes and ears open, stay alert, and avoid sketchiness. Then again, this is India, and that's a tall order.

Wish me luck...

Addendum: Made it to Haridwar just fine. Headed either to Rishikesh or to Dehradun, news when I figure that out. Then I'll settle for about 3 weeks to meditate, do yoga and center myself before the amazing [livejournal.com profile] avocado_tom arrives. And then? Oh boy, sky's the limit.. GODDAMN!
