An announcement!

It is with indescribable joy that I announce:

As of April 7, 2006, Tom Tarka and I are engaged to be married!

I found myself proposing to Tom, as we snuggled up under eight rough wool blankets in a sparse, cold dormatory room of a trekking cabin in the Indian Himalayas. Three days later, on a wooden suspension bridge in Shri Khola, India, under the light of the moon, he got down on one knee and proposed to me. I said "Of course!"

We announced our engagement to our families this summer. Last Wednesday at the Butterzone pasta dinner at Burning Man we announced to many of our friends. For those of you who are hearing this news for the first time, I'm only sorry you couldn't find out in person!

I am madly in love with Tom - he is an amazing man, complex and intelligent, witty and funny, charming, kindhearted and adventurous. He fuels me artistically, he challenges me spiritually and emotionally, and he looks after my wellbeing in a respectful and open way. He is my soulmate and I am his. I know that he is equally madly in love with me, and I feel blessed to have the opportunity to give and receive that love.

We are ready to spend the rest of our lives together. I am honored and ecstatic to be his partner, his lover, his friend and his fiancee!
